Basic
Rules for Doubles Squash
IMPORTANT!
For safety, if in doubt, call a LET.
Playing
and Scoring
Games
are played to 15 points. (If you get to a score of 14-14, receiving
team chooses set to 1 or 3). Points are scored whether serving or
not - like hardball or squash rules. When server is serving, only
receiving player stands in the box on the opposite side - the other
players are in the server's box. Server's partner gets to stand
near the T. When the receiver returns the ball, each team alternates
hitting. NOTE: Either player of a team can play the ball as long
as it is his/her team's turn to hit.
Serving
The
first team to score gets one server only to start. If the server's
team wins the point, that server continues to serve until the score
is lost. Except for the first rotation, the server's partner serves
next until the serve is lost - then the other team gets the serve.
Example
of Serving Order:
Team
A: Players 1 and 2
Team B: Players 1 and 2
TEAM
A serves first
A-1 until lose point
When
serve is lost, TEAM B serves
B-1, then when point is lost,
B-2
When
Team B loses serve,
A-1, then
A-2
Then
rotation continues B-1, B-2, A-1, A-2
NOTE:
Each new game starts this rotation again - i.e., the team serving
first gets only one server to start: A-1, B-1, B-2, A-1, A-2,
etc.
