Facilities
Newton
Squash & Tennis Club is a players club with no
court fees, to encourage frequent play, and excellent quality facilities.
The club is open 365 days a year.
On-site
facilities:
Tennis
Courts The Clubs tennis courts are considered among
the finest in New England and are maintained daily to provide great
playing conditions. We have four Har-Tru outdoor tennis courts,
generally available from early May through late November (as late
as possible, depending on the weather).
The
Tennis Courts are available from 7:00 AM through 8:00 PM (light
and weather allowing), and are signed up by the hour.
During
tennis season, the club employs a tennis pro who is available for
half-hour or hour long lessons.
Some
advantages of Har-Tru courts:
- HAR-TRU's
granular surface acts as a shock-absorbing cushion, allowing players
to slide into their returns and so it is kinder to your
joints than hard courts.
- On
a HAR-TRU court, the ball bounces consistently slower than on
hard court surfaces. This results in longer rallies, a greater
variety of strokes, a more controlled game.
- A
HAR-TRU court is ready for action in a matter of minutes after
a rain shower. Water is absorbed quickly through the surface,
so the courts are back in service relatively quickly. Also, the
court surface remains an average of 20% cooler than hard courts.
Squash
Courts - The new squash courts are state of the art and have
also been heralded for the quality of construction and the consistency
of play. There are two international courts one of which
expands to a doubles court.
The
Squash Courts are available from 7:00 AM through 10:00 PM all year
round (they are air-conditioned for summer play) and are signed
up in 45-minute blocks.
Fitness
Center - In addition to free weights and strength training stations,
the new fitness room includes treadmills, a new elliptical machine,
stationary bikes and rowing machines
The
fitness center is available all year round.
NOTE:
The fitness center is not supervised by trainers members
use the fitness center at their own risk, and should use good judgment.
